From April 4th-8th, 2018, the stunning Caribbean island of Barbados will be graced with a new week long music festival. Going by the name Vujaday, which is defined as “an entirely new experience” and “like nothing you have ever seen or felt before,” the festival will take place in a unique location each of its five days, leaving the first and last day of the week long journey for travel.
Vujaday initially dropped their phase one and phase two lineups, which included Toronto electronic legend Art Department, All Day I Dream founder Lee Burridge, Chicago house hero Green Velvet, San Francisco resident and Dirtybird favorite Justin Martin, Life and Death founder DJ Tennis, Italian electronic DJ Francesca Lombardo, Toolroom Records founder and a legendary name in the world of electronic music Mark Knight, San Francisco based house DJ atish, Toronto resident and Hot Creations signee Nathan Barato, Vienna based techno DJ Cassy and much more.
The third and final phase has now been announced and includes Burning Man favorite Benjamin Alexander, Vancouver-based deep house DJ and “Allure” podcast host Niki Sadeki, melodic electronica duo from Toronto Nature Of Music, childhood friends and techno duo from Montreal Nymra & Sofisticated, Trinidad & Tobago-born house DJ Andy Himself, Italian-born and Barbados-based house and techno DJ Joe Santoro, Barbados local and electric soul slinger DJ D.Luxe, Toronto-based house music devotee Simon Jain, New York-based deep house purveyor Roger Silver, Bay Area house-head Papa Lu, charismatic house duo from NYC Muffs & Mykola and many more incredible artists.
The festival also just announced that the host of the Friday stage will be London-based Ministry of Sound, which has made a name for themselves as one of the world’s biggest dance music brands. On Saturday, one of Amsterdam’s premiere event promoters Audio Obscura will be taking over the stage. The group has a passion is connecting music lovers to remarkable, off-the-beaten-path locations. More event hosts to be announced in the upcoming weeks.
In addition to the event’s spectacular lineup, Vujaday’s organizers have just announced the paradisiacal venues that will be hosting these house and techno icons. Each location offers a unique environment that showcases the natural beauty of the island. Nestled along Barbados’ south coast is The Tiki Bar, which overlooks the calm, aquamarine waters of Rockley Beach. This open-air bar will serve as the pre-party to the main event each day and features a colorful array of 68 house cocktails.
Pirate’s Cove—located in the snorkeling hotspot of Carlisle Bay—is completely outside and allows festival-goers the rare and sublime pleasure of dancing in the sand. With coconut palms and thatched umbrellas smattering the beach, there is no shortage of shade for those who want (or need) to relax. Shifting gears from beach to mountain is the Cornwall House, a private estate with a swimming pool that features a stunning vista of the verdant hills that slope down to the rugged, Bathsheba coastline.
Additional venues include Bellevue Plantation, which was built in 1735 and features spacious grounds, a large swimming pool, a beautiful bar area, and lush gardens surrounding the property. Finally we have Copacabana, which features beach chairs, umbrellas, kayaks, a stage on the beach, and an epic dance floor. More info coming soon on the VIP venue and the exclusive afterparty venue.
