On November 30th, 2026, Barbados will mark a historic milestone, the 60th Anniversary of Independence, our Diamond Jubilee. This momentous occasion is being preceded by a year-long celebration aptly titled On the Road to 60, under the unifying theme ‘Gathering as One Nation’.

Honoring Our Republic

This celebration also shines a light on Barbados as one of the world’s youngest republics, having proudly transitioned to Parliamentary Republic status in November 2021. The festivities will honor this chapter in our national journey, reminding us that nationhood is a living, evolving story.

First Steps on the Road

The journey began in early January 2026 with the addition of seven new landmarks to the Barbados National Register of Historic Places.
