This beach is located on the south coast of Barbados. Officially called “Enterprise Beach” this popular picnic spot boasts of white sands, crystal clear water, casuarina shaded picnic and parking areas, scenic cliff views and breathtaking sunrises and sunsets.
There are two sides to Miami Beach that sea bathers can enjoy. The western side is generally calm, clear and is suitable for swimming whilst the eastern beach has a stronger current and is more suitable for the expert swimmers, boogie boarders, para sailing, Hobie cat and wind sailing.
Although life guards are stationed at this beach, please be vigilant at all times especially when bathing with younger ones. When going to the beach in large groups it is advised that you notify the life guard of your presence.
Miami Beach is in perfect proximity to various food options such as:
- the Mr. Delicious bus shop which is located directly on the beach and sells wonderful local fish cakes
- Granny’s renowned for its famous chicken livers
- Star Mart with hot dogs, pizza, snacks and drinks
- Piggies, a mobile restaurant serving local dishes
- Fast food outlets Chefette and KFC
- Mo’s Grill, Pat’s Place, Charlie’s Fish Net and Hot Legendary Fish Cakes at Oistins Bay Gardens
- Super Centre Supermarket and Deli
Also in close proximity are craft shops (located in Oistin’s Fishing Village), The Berinda Cox Fish Market, a bus depot for your transportation needs, CIBC First Caribbean Bank, a shopping plaza, numerous bars and two gas-stations.
If you are looking for accommodation that is close to Miami Beach, you may consider the following: both Cumbers Tropical Apartments and Little Arches hotel are within walking distance of the beach. Best E Villas Providence and Maybella Apartments are about 5 to 10 minutes away.
Miami Beach is the perfect venue for your picnic. You can rent beach chairs, umbrellas, and boogie boards from local vendors to enhance your “perfect day” at this beautiful Barbados beach. This beach is usually quiet in the earlier part of the day and when the tide is low, you can find sea-shells.
To increase your sense of safety and security, you will be pleased to know that there is a police station just opposite Miami Beach, in the unlikely event that you should encounter any issues .
Miami Beach, as it’s affectionately known to locals and repeat visitors, is one of the cleanest and most serene beaches on the south coast. From its well kept changing and bathroom facilities, to its clear crystal waters, I can promise that your vacation isn’t complete until you have a day at Miami Beach.
