AXSES Systems Caribbean Inc. owners of Barbados.org and a network of over 20 Caribbean sites marketing Barbados, announces a new website for the Barbados Boardwalk -
http://BarbadosBoardwalk.com. BarbadosBoardwalk.com is the first full website of the Boardwalk to be launched.
The new website is a walk on the coast. The website is a wide page taking you along the coast. You move across the page as if stepping along a path. It is a photo journey with descriptions of points of interest and observations along the way.
Titled "A walk on the sea: Nature and heritage shared", it is actually a walk on land reclaimed from the sea. Built to conserve the coasts and protect against erosion from storms and tides - it is now seen foremost as a recreational retreat. The website explains both the environmental and the recreational aspects. Historic places are highlighted, there are pictures of fishermen and stories of net fishing, videos of the construction and separate pages about erosion and restoration.
"The BarbadosBoardwalk.com is an opportunity for visitors and Bajans to learn and share", says Ian Clayton, CEO of AXSES who narrates the journal. "We will add more and encourage all to offer feedback and comments".
To the best of our knowledge, the Barbados Boardwalk is the only one of its kind in the Caribbean.
It is built to last - set in solid concrete fortified by Canadian Nova Scotia granite rocks and planked with Brazilian hardwood, it has undergone rigorous computer testing under all sorts of hurricane and tidal simulation. The sand will shift; groins will need repairing some planks will warp. But the models say it will stand the test of time.
Take the walk when you can - it's a lovely walk on the sea side, good exercise and uplifting. Take the virtual tour on
BarbadosBoardwalk.com to learn about and experience it from a different perspective.
