Barbados was ranked at #38 out of #187 countries with an overall rating of 0.825. Norway topped the index with a rating of 0.955.
Other interesting rankings were United States: #3 with 0.937; Canada: #11 with 0.911; United Kingdom: #26 with 0.875.
The Human Development Index is a composite measure of 3 basic aspects of human development: health, education and income. Barbados remains well above the regional average for Latin America and the Caribbean and is the only Caribbean country listed in the high human development category.
