Barbados has been included on Ethical Traveler’s list of 10 Best Destinations for 2014!

The list seeks to identify the best travel destinations worldwide by considering factors related to environmental protection, social welfare and human rights. For the 2014 list, animal welfare has been added as a consideration.

Barbados was commended for balancing tourism with coastline protection and is regarded as “standing out as a best practice model for the Caribbean”. The island also received particularly high scores in the categories of Political Rights, Civil Liberties and Press Freedom.

Barbados also appeared on the 2013 list.
