So what are the best beaches in Barbados? Of course, everyone has their favourites but here are our picks based on our own likes, chats with visitors and online reviews:
Crane Beach is an automatic choice :) A wide sandy beach with pink sands and rolling turquoise waves welcome you for sunbathing, boogie boarding, sea bathing and even cliff diving.
Miami Beach is the perfect blend of lively and calm. The waves at the eastern end are perfect for boogie boarding and experienced swimmers; the calm western end has shallow waters that children will enjoy. Tip: Get great food and delicious fresh fruit drinks at the Mr. Delicious food truck.
Browne's Beach is one of the widest beaches in Barbados. The calm waters are wonderful for swimming and snorkeling. Tip: This is a popular beach for locals and cruise ship passengers, try the northern end to be in the heart of the action or the southern end for a quieter time.
Silver Sands beach is a top international spot for kitesurfing and windsurfing. Relax on the wide white-sand beach and enjoy the colourful riders catching the waves.. or join in the fun :) Tip: During summer the beach is quieter.
Looking for a quiet day at the beach? Then head to Reeds Bay on the west coast of Barbados. Gentle waves kiss the white sandy shore at this crescent-shaped beach.
Rockley/Accra beach, on the south coast of the island, is another great spot for bathing and swimming. Lively waves in some spots provide perfect conditions for boogie boarding and light surfing. Tip: Take a stroll on the boardwalk at the eastern end of the beach.
No trip to Barbados would be complete without a visit to Bathsheba, a scenic seaside town on the rugged east coast of the island. Watch the surfers, enjoy a beach walk, and be awed by amazing views. Tip: Enjoy a cooling dip in the naturally carved pools.
Although it's one of Barbados' best beaches Welches beach is rarely crowded. This tranquil south coast beach is perfect for families with young children and for beach strolls. Tip: Bring a beach umbrella as there is little shade.
Freyers Well Bay is a hidden gem in the north of Barbados. This is a small, quiet beach with tranquil waters perfect for swimming and soaking. Tip: Check your map and be prepared to ask for directions.. it's not easy to find :)
Brandons Beach is a favourite with cruise ship visitors due to its proximity to the port. Tip: Enjoy lunch and drinks at the beachfront restaurant.
Beachfront hotels offer quick beach access, watersports and lovely sunsets. Find the one that's perfect for you...
