About Fitts Village

Located about halfway between the capital city Bridgetown and historic Holetown is the tranquil Fitts Village, conveniently located on the main bus route along the west coast of island.

As a seaside village the connection to the ocean is strong here. An early morning beach stroll is a refreshing way to start your day. Return later to enjoy snorkeling on the reefs near the shore - you'll see lots of colourful tropical fish and maybe spot a sea turtle! The calm waters also make this an excellent spot for paddle boarding and gentle kayaking.

The Good Shepherd beach is often used by the Barbados Sea Turtle Project for releasing turtle hatchlings. Turtles which emerge from the nest during the day (an unsafe time for them) are collected, and released in the evening when they are safer from predators.

Have a seat on the shaded picnic benches and watch as the catamarans sail lanquidly by. You might also spot the Jolly Roger pirate ship passing close to shore as it carries its crew and guests out to party and snorkel further north along the coast.

Jordan's Supermarket is located right in the heart of Fitts Village. If you're staying in the area then it's the perfect place for grocery shopping, or if you're just spending some time here pop in for drinks and snacks.

Take some time to admire the Church of the Good Shepherd, a quaint Anglican church located on the beach. You can also stroll through some of residential areas to get a sense of local life and architecture. If you're visiting around Christmastime then you'll be delighted by one house in particular which is always beautifully decorated for the holiday season.

Looking for a romantic spot to watch the sun set? The beaches in Fitts Village, and the small esplanade, are the perfect spots.
