Desert Rose (Adenium Obesum)
The desert rose is a favourite in gardens across Barbados. The flowers are beautiful, the most common on the island being a delicate pink colour with bright crimson outer edges.
We are told that this attractive plant hails from Kenya, East Africa and is a relative of the "Frangipani Tree" (Plumeria Rubra).
It has thick fleshy, twisting branches with dark glossy green leaves. In the dry season most of the leaves drop off, leaving mainly the flowers to show their natural beauty.
Horticulture enthusiasts should not miss a visit to the beautiful gardens on display including Flower Forest Botanical Gardens.
