As you make your way south out of the capital city of Bridgetown, head up Bay Street for a mixture of historic and modern Barbados. The street begins at the historic lift bridge over the careenage and passes several sites of interest and entertainment areas, before ending near the Barbados Yacht Club, about one mile away.

Nightlife in Bay Street!

• Harbour Lights is another beachfront nightclub on Bay Street. The venue boasts a superb open-air, beachfront location, perfect for spending your evening 'boogeying' on down in the sand, under the stars and coconut trees. Its lively atmosphere, coupled with great music, makes Harbour Lights one of the most popular nightclubs in Barbados.

For something a little quieter, try the Lobster Alive restaurant which has a magnificent view of Carlisle Bay.

Continuing south you will reach the Carlisle Bay esplanade. The open area is directly opposite the Government Headquarters and is a popular spot for gatherings. Carlisle Bay is usually alive with colour, as there are typically several yachts and other boats anchored there.
