Sir Garfield Sobers - A Great Barbadian
Cricketer
Sir Garfield Sobers is an international cricket celebrity
and a national hero of Barbados. Sir Garfield rose from the
back streets to become Captain of the West Indies team and
has always been regarded as the world's greatest all-rounder.
Sir Garfield retired from cricket in 1974
and was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II the following year,
in recognition of his outstanding contribution to international
cricket.
Sir Garfield Sobers has always been an ambassador
for his country and for his sport and continues to receive
the respect that he gained on the cricket field.
