A note from the "adapter"!

The words of this long-lived popular classic children's song "The Teddy Bears Picnic" have been modified to suit our Barbados way of life!

The Barbados green monkey lives and plays among the trees and flowering gardens in the small tropical forests which are dotted all around our island. In some areas they have become exceptionally tame. This has inspired many visitors and locals alike into feeding these very inquisitive little animals with their favourite food --- BANANAS !!! I am fortunate to have a nice size banana patch in my garden on the West coast and often see these mischievous long-tailed creatures as they jump and play. So far there has always been enough bananas on the trees for these amusing creatures of God and for me! I took these photographs during one of their "fun frolic events".

It is our wish at the Barbados Tourism Encyclopedia for the Internet that children, from all over the world enjoy and have fun singing the new Caribbean version of this cheerful children's song.

This new adaptation is dedicated to ALL the children who were and are patients of SICK KIDS HOSPITAL in Toronto, Canada and especially too, for Miss Anna-Banana who is still a visiting out-patient of this wonderful medical institution.

From: Barbados with love, -- a new song:

"The Monkey-Doodles Picnic!"

Come sing along with us ...

If you go down to the patch today,
You're sure of a "BIG SURPRISE"
If you go down to the patch today,
You'd better go in disguise!
For every monkey that ever there was
Will gather there for certain because
Today's the day the monkeys enjoy their picnic!

Every monkey who has been good
Is sure of a treat today
There's lots of marvelous things to eat
And wonderful games to play
Beneath the trees, where nobody sees
They hide and seek, as long as they please
Cause that's the way the monkeys enjoy their picnic!

Chorus
~~~~~~~~
Picnic time for monkey-doodles,
The little monkey-doodles are having a lovely time today
See them gaily gadabout!
They love to picnic on their holiday
Watch them as they jump and shout
They love to prance about
They don't care an oodle!
At 6 o'clock their Mummy's and Daddy's will take them home to bed
Because they're tired little monkey-doodles!
