The island&#8217;s finest chefs kept their crown as the Caribbean&#8217;s culinary kings and queens, successfully defending their title as <strong>National Culinary Team of the Year<\/strong> at the <em>2024 Taste of the Caribbean<\/em> awards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a display of skill and creativity, the team proved that when it comes to Caribbean cuisine, Barbados continues to set the gold standard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"932\" height=\"482\" src=\"https:\/\/barbados.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/foodie-delight.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7651\" srcset=\"https:\/\/barbados.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/foodie-delight.jpg 932w, https:\/\/barbados.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/foodie-delight-300x155.jpg 300w, https:\/\/barbados.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/foodie-delight-768x397.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 932px) 100vw, 932px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The team&#8217;s success didn&#8217;t stop there. Rising star Dejuan Toppin showcased the next generation of Bajan culinary talent by claiming the prestigious <strong>Junior Chef of the Year<\/strong> title, while mixologist Alex Chandler impressed judges with his innovative creation to win <strong>Best Non-Alcoholic Drink<\/strong>. These individual honors further cemented Barbados&#8217; fine showing at the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Barbados <\/strong>and <strong>Cayman Islands<\/strong> were the only national teams to cop <strong>gold medals<\/strong>, while silver medals went to Bahamas, Bonaire, British Virgin Islands, Cura\u00e7ao, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago, &amp; Turks and Caicos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CEO of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) Vanessa Ledesma explained: <em>&#8220;Beyond showcasing our region\u2019s exceptional and diverse culinary and mixology offerings, Taste of the Caribbean is a demonstration of our unwavering commitment to nurturing talent, providing essential resources, and cultivating opportunities that empower Caribbean culinary and hospitality professionals to thrive&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These award-winning achievements highlight why Barbados is truly a <strong>food lover&#8217;s paradise<\/strong>.
