{"id":1913,"date":"2019-03-23T20:02:05","date_gmt":"2019-03-24T00:02:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/barbados.org\/blog\/?p=1913"},"modified":"2019-03-28T14:42:48","modified_gmt":"2019-03-28T18:42:48","slug":"barbados-medals-at-2019-special-olympics-world-summer-games","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/barbados.org\/blog\/barbados-medals-at-2019-special-olympics-world-summer-games\/","title":{"rendered":"Barbados Medals at 2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Barbados, which traveled with four participants to the recently started 2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Abu Dhabi, has so far nabbed three gold and a silver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"350\" height=\"494\" src=\"https:\/\/barbados.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Abu-Dhabi-Special-Olympics-logo.png\" alt=\"2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games, Abu Dhabi\" class=\"wp-image-1914\" srcset=\"https:\/\/barbados.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Abu-Dhabi-Special-Olympics-logo.png 350w, https:\/\/barbados.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Abu-Dhabi-Special-Olympics-logo-213x300.png 213w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Abbygaile Mayers and\nTiffany Branch both received gold medals on Saturday afternoon after bypassing\ntheir competition in the women\u2019s 200m races for their respective divisions.\nMayers completed her race in 26.25 seconds, while Branch\u2019s time was 34.95\nseconds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mayers also captured a\ngold in the women\u2019s 100m race run Monday March 18, in a time of 13.01 seconds\nwhile Branch placed 5th with a time of 16.24 seconds. The first silver medal\nwas won by Akintude Hall in the men\u2019s 200m race. He finished in 28.90 seconds.\nHis team mate, Tyson Browne, completed in 30.41seconds, finishing in fourth place.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Games continue\nuntil March 21.\n\nBoth Abbygaile and Tiffany were medalists at the\n2015 World Games in Los Angeles, California. They will compete in the women\u2019s\n100m event at the same venue on Monday, March 18, and hope to acquire more\nhardware to move Barbados up on the medals table.\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/barbados.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/barbados-special-olympics.jpg\" alt=\"Medals at 2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games\" class=\"wp-image-1915\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Barbados wins medals in the 2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Abu Dhabi.
