The St. Lucy facility will be offering locals and visitors to the island the opportunity to tour the grounds, learn about the history of the world\u2019s oldest rum and the chance to blend their very own. From the arrival of sugarcane to the reason behind the name \u2018rum\u2019, the International Brand Ambassador Chesterfield Browne gave a detailed report, sharing tales of pirates and US Presidents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"497\" src=\"https:\/\/barbados.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/mount-gay-distillery-tour-1024x497.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1858\" srcset=\"https:\/\/barbados.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/mount-gay-distillery-tour-1024x497.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/barbados.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/mount-gay-distillery-tour-300x146.jpg 300w, https:\/\/barbados.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/mount-gay-distillery-tour-768x373.jpg 768w, https:\/\/barbados.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/mount-gay-distillery-tour.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We moved through the facility visiting the various areas important in the production of this fine rum, learning about the importance of each step. Starting from the well house and moving through the molasses storage facility, the fermentation and distillation process and finally reaching the aging houses, we became rum aficionados. Though we were unable to blend our rum on this occasion, we will surely return when that aspect of the tour has launched. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether you are a Barbadian or a Barbadian at heart.
