Here&#8217;s my musing&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>#1\u00a0Plugged in<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>The trend here is the increasing use of technology in travel decisions and method of planning and booking our vacations.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Many visitors to Barbados are repeat guests (some have visited the island over 30 times!). These guests tend to make their hotel bookings via email direct with the hotel, ensuring the best rate and personal service. They do use flight comparison sites such as Kayak to monitor and track flight options. New visitors will consult destination guides such as <a href=\"http:\/\/barbados.org\">barbados.org<\/a>, review sites like Tripadvisor, and accommodation aggregators (such as Expedia, AirBNB and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.booking.com\/searchresults.html?iata=BGI&amp;aid=875929\">Booking.com<\/a>) for research and ultimately reservations.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1389\" src=\"https:\/\/barbados.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/trends-technology.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"909\" height=\"428\" srcset=\"https:\/\/barbados.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/trends-technology.jpg 909w, https:\/\/barbados.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/trends-technology-300x141.jpg 300w, https:\/\/barbados.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/trends-technology-768x362.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 909px) 100vw, 909px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/personaholidays.com\/barbados\/\">PersonaHolidays<\/a> is a fascinating new travel tool that instantly connects travelers with Barbados hotels that match their personality traits.<\/p>\n<p>While on the island, numerous mobile apps are useful &#8211; we particularly like <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.barbadoshappyhours.app\">Barbados Happy Hours<\/a> for drinks deals; <a href=\"https:\/\/beepcab.com\/\">BeepCab<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/beepbus.com\/\">BeepBus<\/a> for transportation; and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.findyello.com\/page\/mobile-apps\">Yellow Pages<\/a> for locating services, restaurants, etc.<\/p>\n<p>And of course there will be plenty of sharing of vacation photos on Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat and Twitter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>#2\u00a0Bountiful bucket lists<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Travelers today are more strategic with their travel goals.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Barbados is a wonderfully diverse country.<\/p>\n<p>For those seeking adventure the island offers safari tours, jetblading, submarine dives and caving challenges.\u00a0Seeking the ultimate indulgence? Then stay at the exclusive Sandy Lane Resort or an island villa, dine at top restaurants, and be catered to with genuine hospitality. Prefer to experience authentic island life? As they&#8217;ve grown up their love of Barbados has endured, and they&#8217;ve returned as singles and later with a family of their own. This gives them a unique perspective of the island and they&#8217;ve seen Barbados grow-up as well since achieving independence from Britain in 1966.<\/p>\n<p>Other visitors recall seeing television ads about Barbados and dreaming of what an amazing vacation they would experience here. Barbados-born Rihanna also heavily promotes the island in her music videos and public appearances.<\/p>\n<p>Celebrities are regular visitors to Barbados, with many owning homes on the island. It was Washington&#8217;s only visit off\u00a0the North American mainland.<\/p>\n<p>Today Barbados remains a place to rejuvenate the body, mind and spirit.
