The island is one of the destinations where you\u00a0are <strong>least likely<\/strong> to become caught up in a <strong>natural disaster<\/strong>, according to the United Nations.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a02015 World Risk Report by the United Nations University for Environment and Human Security lists Barbados as the <strong>4th\u00a0safest country in the world<\/strong> with respect to natural disasters, with just a\u00a01.22% chance of disaster.<\/p>\n<p>171 countries were included\u00a0in\u00a0this\u00a0risk assessment. Natural disasters considered include storm, tsunami, earthquake and floods.<\/p>\n<p>The greatest threat to Barbados is Atlantic hurricanes, but the islands location at the southern end of the Caribbean chain offers some protection with most storms veering to the north. In fact Barbados\u00a0has not been struck by a major hurricane since 1955.
