We had a wonderful first-time visit to Barbados, with a good part of the credit for our enjoyment going to Peter and the Villa Marie. From the moment we arrived, Peter was always there if we needed him, but never intrusive. His recommendations were spot-on. The accommodations are spacious and kept spotlessly clean by Pauline. We especially enjoyed sitting on the porch outside the white apartment and in the yard under the mango trees. Light sleepers may want to bring ear plugs or a white noise machine, but we found the bed comfortable and accommodated quickly to the night-time noises of the village. Missy the cat became our special friend—she’ll be your friend, too, if you give her a little cheese! The photos on the website are good representations of what you will see when you get there. We have no hesitation in recommending the Villa Marie. Durham, NC USA 07-03-2010 Tracy & Steve We are currently here again at Villa Marie for the umteenth time! We were here for three weeks for Crop Over and have spent the last two weeks over Christmas and New Year. We love it here so much that we are coming back for next Crop Over. As usual Peter is the perfect host, although we know the island almost as well as he does now LOL and Pauline looks after us very well, too. This feels so much like home and we're dreading the though of having to leave in two days time.... but then the countdown can start for the next time!! Coventr, England 07-01-2010 Ingrid Hoetz Nachdem ich schon oftmals (in Unterkünften jeglichen Couleurs)in Barbados Urlaub machte, hat mich die Villa Marie sehr positiv überrascht. Eine sehr saubere, romantisch gelegene Unterkunft. Für unkomplizierte Leute, die auch mal gerne mit anderen abends auf der Terrasse sitzen (kann man, muß nicht) und dem subtropischen Zirpen und Quaken zuhören können, eine sehr empfehlenswerte Unterkunft. Die Küche und Eßzimmer mit Fernseher ist für alle nutzbar - wir haben unser Frühstück und manchmal auch Abendessen mit super frischen und günstigen Fisch vom Fischmarkt in Speithstown, selbst gemacht. Die Busstation ist tatsächlich gleich um die Ecke und man muß, obwohl ruhig und von der Straße weg gelegen, keine Angst haben, auch spätabends zur Villa zurückzukehren. Liegt eingebettet in ruhige Nachbarschaft - na ja, Hunde gibts schon und etwas weiter weg ein paar Hähne - wir haben nachts Ohrstöpsel verwendet! Das sollte man der Fairness schon vermerken. Aber alles in allem war es ein super Aufenthalt und der Peter (Manager) ist sehr um das Wohlergehen seiner Gäste bemüht. Danke Peter Hersbruck/Germany 25-12-2009 Trevon i decided to surprise my girlfriend with a valentines get away and villa marie was recommended by some overseas friends... i had to say the service was excellent, the rooms were very clean and the location is excellent i would recommend here to anyone who wants some relaxation at affordable rates!!! I will be there again!!! Barbados 10-06-2009 Geoff, Jon, Rob & Samuel Having visited Barbados for the Cricket we wanted to find a friendly accommodation that could give us advice on where to eat, drink and go to ensure we had a good time when not at the cricket. Peter was an excellent host and Villa Marie was spotless, secure and an excellent place to socialise with other guests! The gardens were very attractive and full of wildlife including a Monkey swinging from the trees!! Everything was close to hand and we travelled around the island by the superb cabs available or the buses. $1.50 and you can even try the Reggae Bus which gives a whole new meaning to bus rides! Local beaches are beautiful and safe, sun was hot and the local restaurant and bars in Holetown were excellent value for money. G,J, R & S Glebe Road, Cheam, Surrey 07-03-2009 Rafael & April We just came back 2 nights ago from our lovely stay in Villa Marie and we already miss it. Location is perfect! We initially booked a place in the southern coast of Barbados but decided a few days before the trip to find one on the west coast. It turned out perfect. The beach is just right across the road from the Villa and if you walk a few minutes further up, you will find a good swimming spot and will have your own nice private beach area. If you want more action, Paynes Bay Beach is a few minutes further north (which if you happen to go, give my regards to Patrick and the twins. Bajans at its best!)Holetown with all the restaurants and grocery is only a 7 min bus ride. Peter, the host keeps the Villa spotless clean. The garden is beautiful and the whole place is just relaxing. Make sure you visit Scarlett Restaurant as well. The whole atmostphere is perfect. Drinks and food are amazing. This is one of our best carribean trip. Bajans are just amazing people! ! Peter thanks for the hospitality. Can't wait to go back. 06-03-2009 Stephen Hodgkins I have just returned from a two week visit to villa marie with 22 divers and their families. The villa is absolutely perfect for large groups. We had seven cars and there was still space on the drive. If we needed something Peter had the solution. He will organise trips and give local friendly advice. Pauline the maid was very helpfull and made sure the rooms were kept clean and washing done when requested. I would definately recommend anyone staying on the west coast of Barbados to stay at villa marie. I cant wait until we return in August. Thanks Pete and Pauline. Great location, quiet but within easy reach of great beaches & at night-time Holetown was ideal for us as a family with somthing for everyone! Villa-Marie is fantastic value and we shall be back for sure. The location of Villa Marie in Fitts Village is ideal; it is ten minutes from Holetown and right across the street from a quiet and beautiful beach (good snorkeling there too!). Bridgetown and the Gap are not too far and they are all easily accessible by the government and the yellow (party) buses! The rooms at Villa Marie are spacious and very clean (Pauline, you're wonderful!). Peter is a great host as well. As mentioned in the other notes, he arranges anything and everything you need and want. This is a great option if you're looking for a personal and relaxing stay in Barbados. Enjoy!
