Apache

Apache has been my friend
for three days now.
Being there is what he's all about.
I send him round and round
in windmills with our piece of string.
His eyes look up, look down.
If I've been gone too long,
he calls me up
from lounging in the sun.
At once I come to rub his tum.
To play his kind of game.
In my retreat,
I need this friend
who purrs a friendly purr
but does not speak.
