Randy Bennett
A talented all round sportsman, being an athlete and cricketer
as well as chess player. He finished second in the Under
16 section of the Curacao International Open, in 1996.
He was also second in the 1999 Mutual Open Chess Championships. |

Junior Taitt
The 1998 champion, he came on the Barbados chess scene
very late and as a relative unknown, he made his mark
by qualifying for the 1998 and 1999 Barbados National
Championships. He represented Barbados at the 1999 Pan
American Under 18 in Brazil. He is the current joint Barbados
Under 20 champion (with Justin Kirton).

Justin Kirton (St.
George Secondary)
The Knight of St. George, he is the current joint national
Under 20 champion (with Junior Taitt). Sharp and aggressive
he is one of Barbados's brightest hopes for the future.
He represented Barbados at the 1999 Pan American Under
14 and the 2000 Pan American Under 16, in Brazil.

Olaudah Pryce (St.
Leonards Boys)
After dominating the Under 14 age group in 1997 and
1998, and having been a member of several St. Leonards
champion junior interschool teams, he is now looking to
make his mark at the senior level having just qualified
for the 2000 Barbados national championships. A positional
player, he represented Barbados at the 1999 Curacao International
Open.

Saeed Norville (Hill
Top Prep School)
Just 8 years old, he is the current Barbados Under 12
champion. Not to be underestimated, he won a Board prize
at last year's interschool playing opponents almost twice
his age. He represented Barbados at the 2000 Pan American
Under 10 in Brazil. This is one name which will feature
in next 12 Open Juniors!

Rashida Corbin
Barbados' brightest young female hope. Another sharp
and aggressive player, she was a key member of the Barbados
Under 14 Junior Squad which toured Trinidad 1998 and 1999,
and is the current Barbados Under 14 champion. |

Amilton Wilson (Ellerslie)
A surprise winner of the Barbados 2000 Under 16 Championship
and a member of the Barbados Under 16 squad, he is a rapidly
developing junior whom one must keep an eye on!

Anderson Christie (Barbados
Community College)
One of Barbados' most experience juniors having represented
the country at the CAC Under 20 in Venezuela in 1999,
the 1998 Pan American Under 20 in Brazil, and the British
Junior Under 16 in 1998 where he placed 8th. Anderson
qualified for the Barbados National Championship this
year for the first time and is currently the highest ranked
Barbados junior. |

Askari Elson
Askari, while only 13 years old and playing his first
Open Junior, is not to be underestimated. This positional
player, placed 4th in the 1999 US Open Junior in Arizona
and has qualified for this year's National Championships. |
