Frequency
1. A tournament for the Mutual Open Junior Championship shall
be organized each year by the Barbados Chess Federation (BCF).
Participation
2. Entitled to participate are chess players who shall not
have reached the age of 20 by January 1st of the year in which
the tournament will commence.

3. The tournament shall be played in eight rounds according
to the Swiss System, with 2 rounds being played each day.

4. The tournament shall be played according to FIDE regulations.
5. The time control in each game
shall be 1 1/2 hours sudden death.
6. Players arriving an hour after
the schedule start time shall lose their game by default,
and any player defaulting more than 2 games shall be withdrawn
from the competition.

Arbiter and his Assistants
7. The President of BCF shall - after consultation with the
organizing committee - nominate the Chief Arbiter, as well
as the necessary assistant arbiters and other officials.
8. Protests, including protests
against a decision of the Chief Arbiter or his assistants,
must be submitted in writing to the Chief Arbiter within two
hours after completion of the playing session.
Appeals
Committee
9. Before the beginning of the tournament an Appeals Committee
shall be selected. This committee shall consist of five members
and two reserves, chosen by the organizing committee from
among themselves or the representatives of national federations
and school clubs present. The persons chosen for the Appeals
Committee shall represent at least two different federations,
if there are participants from two or more federations, and
four different school clubs.
No member of the committee shall
have the right to decide on questions concerning his own school
club. In such cases the member concerned shall have the right
only to partake in the discussions of the committee.
Designation
of the Winner
10. The order of the players is determined according to the
number of points obtained. If at the end of the tournament
two or more players are tied for first place, the tie shall
be broken in the following order:
(a) Where the players involved
have all played only against rated opponents, after eliminating
the lowest rated opponent, find the sum of opponents' ratings.
The highest total wins. If still tied, eliminate the rating
of the next lowest rated opponent(s) until a decision is possible.
(b) The sum of progressive scores.
The highest total wins. If still tied, deduct the first round
score, and if necessary the second round and so on.
If the tie remains unbroken,
play-off by a blitz game, and if it still remains unbroken
the championship shall be shared.
Financial
Regulations and Prizes
11. The travelling expenses of participants and accompanying
persons, specially invited by BCF, shall be paid by their
national federations. Board and lodging and pocket money of
at least US$10.00 per day in local currency shall be provided
by the BCF.
12. The entry fee for the competition
shall be Bds $10.00 ($5.00 US) which must be paid on registration
for the tournament. Players registering by the announced early
registration date will receive a 50% discount.
13. The BCF shall award prizes
to at least the three highest placed participants.
Special prizes shall also be
awarded to the highest placed under 14 and 16 player, the
highest placed under 1000, 1200 and 1400 rated player and
the highest placed girl.
Before the beginning of the tournament
a list of these prizes shall be published together with other
prizes to be awarded, and the conditions to be met for winning
them.
Moreover, the BCF shall award
trophies to the winner, to the player who took the second
place and to the player who took the third place.
