Barbados was spared from any damage by Tropical Storm Chantal.
It was a wet and windy day with big waves on the east and north coasts.


8:00 am update – Tue July 9th 2013
Barbados is currently in the eye of Chantal with moderate winds and some rainfall being experienced especially in the south and east of the island. Chantal will pass Barbados and the Lesser Antilles in the next few hours and and move into the Caribbean Sea later today. Maximum sustained winds remain near 50mph (85km/h).

8:00 pm update – Mon July 8th 2013
Chantal continues to strengthen with winds of 50mph (85 km/h). Storm force winds extend up to 90 miles from the centre.

2:00 pm update – Mon July 8th 2013
At 2.00 p.m the center of Chantal was located about 470 miles (760 km) to the east southeast of Barbados. Chantal is moving towards the west northwest at 25mph (41 km/h) and is forecasted to pass within 50 miles to the north of Barbados early on Tuesday morning.  Maximum sustained winds are near 45mph (75km/h) with higher gusts.

11:00 am update – Mon July 8th 2013
At 11:00 a.m the center of Tropical Storm Chantal was located about 550 miles (885 km) to the east-southeast of Barbados. Chantal is moving towards the west north-west at 25mph (41 km/h). Maximum sustained winds are near 45mph (75km/h) with higher gusts. Tropical storm force winds extend outwards up to 60 miles from the center.

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Barbados. On the present track the center of Tropical Storm Chantal is forecasted to pass just north of Barbados early on Tuesday morning. Heavy winds and rain will begin to effect the island later today (Monday).
