Barbados Beach of the Week: Paradise Beach

more Barbados news options

We’re heading over to the west coast of Barbados to visit the beautiful Paradise Beach, our featured Barbados Beach Of The Week!

Paradise Beach is a crescent-shaped white sand beach nestled between Freshwater Bay to the south and Batts Rock to the north.  This beach is fabulous for swimming as the calm waters lap gently onto the shore. To see small colourful tropical fish bring along you mask and snorkel over the small coral reefs.

The beach is very quiet during the week. On weekends you’ll find some locals from nearby communities relaxing here. There is a lifeguard stationed at the neighbouring Batts Rock beach but none at Paradise Beach itself.

Paradise Beach is located just 5 minutes drive from the Barbados harbour so it’s a great place to spend a quiet day in Barbados as part of your Caribbean cruise but be sure to bring snacks and drinks with you.

The name “Paradise Beach” is derived from the old Cunard Paradise Hotel which once sat on these shores. Many repeat visitors, and many locals, have fond memories of dances and dinners held at this resort. At that time the beach was a hive of activity with lots of watersports activities (especially catamarans and water-skiing) and horse riding along the beach.

These days Paradise Beach is much quieter. The glamorous  Four Seasons resort began construction a few years ago but, with the global recession, the project has been put on hold.

To access Paradise Beach use the Batts Rock road and then stroll south for a minute. If you’re driving, parking is available at Batts Rock.  Alternatively you can catch the bus and ask the driver to let you off at Batts Rock.
